MEET THE TEAM
Jay Peluso - Owner, Race Director
Jay is a certified USA Triathlon Race Director. He is the owner of Peluso Open Water and former National Race Director for Rev3 Triathlon. Jay has over 15 years experience directing large scale races. He has been the Race Director for SwimRun Virginia since its inception.
Jay has a law degree from the University of Richmond and a bachelor's degree in Sport Management from the University of Massachusetts. While attending UMass, Jay swam for the university swim team. Jay has completed 2 full distance triathlons and many long distance open water races.
Danny Serpico - Owner, Logistics, Marketing
Danny is a certified USA Triathlon Race Director. He is the Owner and Race Director of Rip It Events, a mid-atlantic region multi-sport and running race production company. Danny has over 12 years experience directing large scale events in the endurance racing, non-profit and federal spaces.
Danny has a bachelor's degree in Marketing from Towson University. While attending Towson, Danny swam for the university swim team. Danny has completed 5 full distance triathlons and numerous marathons.
Amy Margolis & David Wilson - Partnership Coordinator, Social Media and Ambassador Team Leads
Amy is a Certified Physician Assistant in Oncology. David is maintenance technician in a high rise building. In January of 2018, Amy and David decided to leave their 9-5 lifestyle to explore the U.S. and Canada with their dog, Mira. Together they traverse the country in their Sprinter van, training, racing and volunteering through each city. Both Amy and David were IGNITE ambassadors for the 2018 season and completed 5 swimrun competitions.
Amy is a certified USA Triathlon level I coach. Both are in the process of obtaining their RRCA Level I coaching certification. Amy has completed 8 full distance triathlons, multiple marathons and ultramarathons. Davidhas completed 3 full distance triathlons, multiple marathons and ultramarathons as well.
Stu Joannes - "The Voice of IGNITE", Announcer
For the past 13 years, Stu has used his energetic voice to emcee hundreds of regional and national races including IRONMAN Triathlon and REV3 Triathlon. Stu is also the owner and creator of SimplyStu Podcast series which has over 650,000 downloads. His podcast includes a wide variety of topics such as triathlon, college freshman year guidance, and even country band interviews! Stu also helps produce podcasts for SRAM and Zipp.
Stu has a degree in Management Information Systems from the University of South Florida. He works full time at the Executive Office for U.S. Attorneys (DOJ) where he has been for the past 31 years. Stu has completed over 15 marathons, 3 full distance triathlons, and even competed in the AAU Junior Olympic Nationals twice for cross country.
Page Bethke - Retail Coordinator
Page graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University with a degree in Mass Communications with a concentration in Advertising. Page enjoyed experiences in Retail Sales and Event Planning before starting her career in Promotional Products. Page is the owner of The Promo Department, LLC, in Richmond, Virginia, and loves partnering with clients to find the right solutions for their needs.
Page loves the open water. She has completed two “To the Bridge and Back” 5 mile swims in the James River and a VBLA Ocean Swim. Additionally, she provides kayak support for Peluso Open Water events.
